Event Description:
The Gorge SINGS! Community Choir Festival What do you get when you invite five outstanding community choirs to join together in song? Come find out on Saturday, February 23 when CGOA presents a Community Choir Festival called THE GORGE SINGS! Included on the program will be selections performed by the Voci Choir, Harmony of the Gorge, the Cascade Singers, Wind Masters and the CGOA Youth Choir. The concert will include the world premiere of Three Songs for Choir, a newly commissioned work by Artistic Director and Conductor Mark Steighner. Commissioned by Doris and Tina Castanares, the three songs are based on texts by Ursula K Le Guin, Basho and Alicia Ostriker. Following intermission, the guest choirs will join with the audience for an extended singalong of favorite hymns, folk songs, show tunes, pop songs and more. It’s the first of what is hoped will be an annual “Big Sing” event, where audience members get to experience the fun and satisfaction of singing in a choir (without having to go to rehearsals!) Best of all, the concert is FREE with donation accepted. The Gorge SINGS is Saturday, February 23 at the Wy’east Middle School Performing Arts Center. The concert is free. More information at
