Find Balance in 2018: Get Outside & On the River!

January tends to be full of resolutions, goals, and dreams to accomplish, and by February we have realistically narrowed those down to the most important goal. How about the goal of connecting and finding balance in 2018? Let’s ditch digital media, deadlines and other to-do's and focus on making a simple connection to the world around us, truly immersing ourselves in beautiful places and connecting to the people we’re with.  This deep connection to the people within our river community and the beauty of the natural environments we find ourselves in is what we love most about spending time on the river.  This summer, we invite you to find your balance during a week-long rafting adventure or a multi-day kayak journey on Idaho's Main Salmon River.

Why Raft the Main Salmon?

NEW for 2018. The Main Salmon River slices through one of America’s famed wilderness landscapes, the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. The river’s deep canyons, rugged terrain, exciting rapids, beautiful beach camping and rich history combine to create one of the most memorable multi-day rafting trips in the world.

Wet Planet is thrilled to begin offering these spectacularly beautiful
6-day rafting adventures as of the 2018 season. Running in July and August, these are trips of a lifetime, creating unforgettable memories and experiences for you and your friends or family.

E-News Special: Join us this year, and, as a much appreciated previous Wet Planet guest, receive a 20% discount when you make reservations before March 31st!

Learning to Kayak

Did you know that the Wet Planet Kayak School was created over 12 years ago by some of our first raft guides who shared a passion for whitewater kayaking? They found their balance in life by skiing or traveling in the winter combined with guiding rafts and teaching kayaking in the summer. Years later, after introducing thousands to the magical experiences of spending time on the river in a kayak, this 'balance' still holds true for the team of instructors at Wet Planet.

So, we invite you to find your balance on the river in a kayak. Have you rafted all of our rivers? Are you feeling ready to take charge of your own boat? Start with the basics in one of our
beginner kayak courses; brush up on your skills in one of our intermediate courses or advanced kayak clinics; or journey to Idaho for a 6-day kayak expedition on the Main Salmon River. No matter what level, our expert instructors will help you develop new skills and grow your appreciation for whitewater kayaking.

Rafting Wild & Scenic Rivers

The Wild & Scenic River Act is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.  In 1968 this act was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson in order to protect the exceptional values and features of free flowing rivers for the enjoyment of future generations.

50 years later, the Act has more than 200 rivers all over the country under its protection, with many of them located here in the Pacific Northwest.  We feel fortunate to be able to share, enjoy and explore five of these Wild and Scenic Rivers with you:
Main Salmon River in Idaho, Hood River, Klickitat River, Owyhee River, and White Salmon River.

During this year of celebration, we want to invite you to join us on any of these rivers and put your experience or your motivation to support protection of these rivers into word, picture or video. Send it in by November 1st 2018, and you'll be entered into a competition for a free trip on the Main Salmon River in 2019 - see details in the February e-newsletter.

Wet Planet Crew 2018

It's always paddling season somewhere. From foreign countries to desert river canyons, many of the Wet Planet team use the Pacific Northwest's winter season to embark upon whitewater adventures elsewhere, while many stay local and enjoy the abundance of water in the rivers typical for this time of year.  Look to our staff for inspiration as they balance the journeys they have planned with other goals they’ve set.

Feeling inspired by their adventurous life style? You too can choose to join the team! You don't need to be a river professional; we have lots of non-river opportunities. We are currently interviewing for the following positions for the 2018 season: CDL driver, barista, cook, server, marketing coordinator, reservations staff, base support staff, and photographers.

Join the team! It's the best way to spend time on the river.
