Children's Park Re-Build! Volunteers Needed!

April 18, 2018

The Hood River Children’s Park really needs help finding volunteers for the week of the build of the new park!  The build will begin on Monday, June 4th and end on Sunday, June 11th.  Each day there will be three shifts, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Lunch and dinner will be provided by our community as well.  Child care will also be available.  We need a rather large amount of volunteers to pull this build off in seven days, so we are hoping that the local businesses, church groups and community members can help bring it all together.  We need volunteers of all skill levels, so even if not everyone in your group is comfortable swinging a hammer, I promise we will find a job for everybody!

If you and your group want to organize a crew to come out for some of the shifts, I would love to work with you to find a time that works during the week of our build!  From what I've been told by others who have been a part of community park builds, it is a pretty amazing experience for all involved and even more fun if you can share the experience as a group.   It isn't often that we get to be a part of something so positive in our community, particularly something that we will be able to admire and be proud of just seven days after the project starts.

Here is a link to the city's website on the build:

If your group does want to donate and sponsor something, there's a donation sheet on the site that can be printed out and mailed in; there's a volunteering link there as well, though if you want to organize a crew to come help out, it is probably best to just contact me to find a day/shift that would work best for all of you.  Thanks a bunch for your time!
