Arts & Culture Resources

Explore the history of Native American culture, timber and logging, agriculture and recreation of the Mid-Columbia region. Then stop by the Hood River County Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center to grab a map of the Hood River BIG ART Walking Tour, a rotating collection of impressive sculptures on loan from (and for sale by) regional artists (art-of-community.com). Then, make your way to downtown Hood River, where artwork by local artists hangs on the walls of many restaurants and retailers. Stop in the Columbia Center for the Arts, home to a community theater group and a gallery that features more than 125 local artists with month-long special exhibits (215 Cascade Avenue). You’ll have to hop on a bicycle or into the car to reach Western Antique Aeroplane and Automotive Museum (WAAAM). Here, you can peek inside hundreds of working antique airplanes, automobiles and military jeeps.
