Press release: CGOA Production of Spamalot moves to the Bingen Theatre 5/23/17 CGOA Stages’ upcoming production of Monty Python’s Spamalot is on the move. Due to school district construction, the show has been relocated to the Bingen Theatre. Director Mark Steighner explained that the musical, slated to open at Wy’east Middle School on June 16, had to find a new home when CGOA was notified that the school would be closed on June 17 for a major construction project. “We tried very hard to find a workaround,” said Steighner, “but we understand the pressure the school district is under to complete construction under their time constraints.” CGOA Stages has used the Bingen theatre for two productions this year, The Rocky Horror Show in September and Death of a Salesman in April. “This is a big show with lots of dance and costume changes, but the cast is undaunted by the last-minute change,” Steighner added. “Spamalot won the 2005 Tony for Best Musical, and it’s hilarious...no matter what the venue!” “Anyone who is a Monty Python fan will recognize classic scenes from their films, but the show is also a cheeky send-up of Broadway musicals, with references to everything from Phantom of the Opera to Fiddler on the Roof. Where else can you find tap dancers and a catapulted cow?” Tickets are $15 adults (18+) and $10 students/children (10-17). Tickets will be also sold at the door. Performances of “Spamalot” are June 16, 17, 22, 23, and 24 at 7 pm, and June 18 and 24 at 2 pm in the Bingen Theatre. Seating is limited, so Steighner encourages audiences to buy tickets in advance through gorgeorchestra.org. Due to some very mild language and content the show is recommended for ages 10+.
