CGOA Stages Presents Spamalot
Name: CGOA Stages Presents Spamalot
Date: June 16, 2017 - June 24, 2017
CGOA Stages presents “Monty Python’s Spamalot” “Monty Python’s Spamalot” won the 2005 Tony award for best musical, and now CGOA Stages is bringing the hilarious show to the Gorge for 7 performances in June. Based largely on “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” film, “Spamalot” is an smart and irreverent sendup of history and many of the traditions of Broadway musicals as well. Like the film, “Spamalot” is based on the semi-mythological King Arthur and his attempt to gather Knights for his round table at Camelot and the quest to find the sacred relic. The musical contains many of the most beloved skits and scenes from the film as well as new songs and some older Python material happily repurposed for the musical. The actors in the twenty member cast each play multiple roles. The show is directed by Mark Steighner. “Spamalot” is the final production of CGOA Stages’ first season, which has also included “The Rocky Horror Show,” “Pirates of Penzance” and “Death of a Salesman.” Stages is the Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association’s new musical and theatrical performance ensemble. Performances of “Spamalot” are June 16, 17, 22, 23, and 24 at 7 pm, and June 18 and 24 at 2 pm in the Bingen Theatre. Tickets are $15 adults (18+) and $10 for students and children (10-17). Tickets are available at the door and online through www.gorgeorchestra.org. Due to some very mild language and content the show is recommended for ages 10+.
